The Falling Of The Dresser Sent Chills Down My Spine. Moments Later? We Need To Do Something!

Have you ever known that our home appliances like TVs and furniture poses some danger to our kids? Research has shown that every two weeks, one child dies after such appliances falls on him or her. That means these appliances must be strongly anchored for the impending danger to be avoided at costs.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission was concerned about that and came up with this video that offers important information and tips for ensuring the safety of our children. As an example, when a TV is placed on top of a bookshelf or dresser, it becomes unstable since its center of gravity shifts. Thus, it can be caused to topple when a little weight like that of a child touches it. When your rental agreement does not allow you to anchor within the house, anti-tip devices can serve as an alternative.

It’s very scary to watch an object falling on a baby… though it’s not real, my heart skipped a beat when I saw it happen. I hope this is scary enough to take a step and ensure the safety of our kids is well taken care of!
