Imagine suffering from a very rare medical condition that no one knows about?
That might sound like a script from an Armageddon story, but you might be surprised that one teen actually walks in those shoes.
Jonathan Pitre is a 14-year-old young man from Russell, Ontario, and he really loves the hockey sport. However, his strange skin condition has never allowed Jonathan to strike a ball in hockey, but he takes everything in his own stride.
He suffers from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) that makes his body fragile. His skin is prone to blisters at the slightest touch, but he and his mom still spend almost 4 hours every day as Tina, the mom, bathes him. The condition has no cure, and those affected are referred to as “butterfly children.” Although a butterfly child, Jonathan is one those people who don’t give up easily, and his life has inspired millions of people across the world.
This teen is a strong being at heart, and he has even become the ambassador for the DEBRA Canada, a charity organization that supports those affected by EB and also sensitizes the public about the condition. He’s so inspiring!
