Cop accepts teen’s challenge to drum with high school band – stuns entire crowd moment he starts playing

It is clear that Corporal Les Munn of the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, is truly passionate about the work he does.

Upon first glance, Cpl. Munn may seem to be a pretty intimidating figure. He is tall, fit, and most importantly – he’s in uniform. But he is also a great example of how we all need not judge a book by it’s cover.

While he was on duty at an Arkansas High School football game, he ended up stunning the crowd in a video that has since gone viral.

While patrolling the grounds, Cpl. Munn noticed a group of band students hauling their heavy drums up the bleachers. As he recalls, via Inside Edition: “A couple of the band members were bringing their equipment up into the stands and one of them was talking about how heavy it was, how I should carry it up there for her. I said OK, and she made a comment about, ‘Well, you come up in the stands, we’ll show you how to play this stuff.’”

Not being the type to turn down a dare, Cpl. Munn took the kids up on the request. Although, having not played the drums in 23 years, he was admittedly experiencing a bit of stage fright.

He told Inside Edition,  “I was nervous; it had been a long time since I’d played so I didn’t want to let them down and [I was] hoping my skills were gonna hold up.” As it turned out, there was very little for Cpl. Munn to be nervous about. He picked up the drumsticks and didn’t miss a single beat.

In the video filmed by one of the parents in the crowd, you see Cpl. Munn performing with the high schoolers — and all of them are beaming with excitement. Everyone was so taken back by his talents, he really shocked everyone in the crowd.

“It kind of took the uniform off for a second and let everyone know, ‘Hey, we’re just people too’,” Cpl. Munn explained.

The viral video has been viewed over 250,000 times, and for a good reason. Cpl. Munn was able to demonstrate that policemen are people too.
